I received my M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Columbia University in Sept. 2008. I worked under the supervision of Sal Stolfo and Angelos Keromytis. My research has focused on user behavior profiling applied to anomaly detection and network security. In a previous life, I worked for many years in behavior modeling and role allocation for robotic teams, participating in the Robocup project at Columbia University and at the Politecnico di Milano as an Erasmus student.

I have enjoyed internships at Google Zurich with the AdSpam Team and at UNDP New York with the E-learning Group. I have also worked as a consultant for OLPC (One Laptop Per Child) and for the Universidad de Santa Cruz de la Sierra in the beautiful Bolivia. In addition I am a recipient of "La Caixa" Foundation Fellowship.

My current research interests lie in modeling and understanding the impact that demographics, social, cultural and economic variables play in the way people use technology. I have a strong background in data mining, applied machine learning, behavior profiling, anomaly and intrusion detection, network security, and coordination, learning and adaptation in multiagent systems.

In my free time, I love traveling to remote places with no internet, although it´s getting harder and harder to find them! I also love dogs, books and nature.

We are looking for interns and researchers, if interested email me.
