Biography

Karen is a Junior Researcher with the Multimedia Scientific Team in Telefonica Research, Barcelona, Spain. She received her PhD in Computer Science entitled, "A Study of Mobile Internet Usage and Implications for Mobile Search Interfaces" from University College Dublin, Ireland in 2008. Karen's current research focus is on future mobile information access and social mobile search services with a specific focus on mobile user behaviour.

• Nov 4th: Just finished my paper reviewing work for this year ;-)
  
• Nov 2nd: Just over the WWW 2010 deadline. We submitted a full paper describing a live field study of approx 40 users in which we compare map and text-based interfaces for mobile search and information discovery with a view to understanding in which situations one interface is preferred/more effective than the other. We outline some nice implications for the design of future mobile search and information access services
